Well it's finally here, the Disneyland Half Marathon weekend. Jim signed up for the half-marathon while I opted for the 5k instead. My goal was to finish the entire thing without having to stop to walk, but when I realized that probably wasn't going to happen I wanted to finish under 35 minutes.
Amazingly enough it seemed for a while that I might be able to finish without stopping. There were so many people on a narrow path that I started out at a decidedly slower pace. I passed the one-mile marker and felt pretty good, made it to the two-mile marker feeling okay, but didn't make it much past that before I had to stop. Significantly better than any of my previous 5k runs.

Plus I got a medal, which is always fun.
So what have I learned? I'm definitely a "cold weather" runner, preferring cool weather to hot, and I really need to start out at a slower pace. I'll keep chipping away at it and hopefully I'll make it someday.
