Recently Jim decided to sign up for the Disneyland Half-Marathon, held in Anaheim this September. Since there is no way that I'm running that far, I'm signed up for the companion 5K Fun Run the day before. To go along with that I'm going to put forth a concerted effort to really improve my 5K performances. To that end I've decided to really track my times and put in some road work between now and September.
Initially I thought that I would set a goal for a lower time on my 5K, but during the Resolution Run this morning it occurred to me to go a slightly different route. I've never run a 5K as an adult without stopping to walk part of the route, which can get frustrating. So that's my goal - to run the Disneyland 5K Fun Run without stopping.
I've started a simple log to keep track of my times and when I stop for the first time in the runs leading up to the big one, so I'll keep adding to it as new runs happen. Here's how I started the year:
|
Run |
Date |
Watch time |
First stop |
Chip time |
|
Resolution Run 5K |
1/1/2009 |
37.06 |
1 mile + |

The Chip time will come in next month's NW Runner magazine. Stay tuned as my times improve!
You did a great job yesterday REALLY tough conditions. Good luck with your goal!
